What is Homescapes?

Homescapes is a match-3 puzzle game by Playrix, the studio behind Gardenscapes. You play alongside Austin, a friendly butler who returns to his family's old mansion and finds it falling apart. Every room, the hall, the kitchen, the bedroom, the garden, needs repairs, new furniture and a fresh look, and you unlock those changes by clearing match-3 boards.

The loop is simple to describe and hard to put down. Swap and match three or more pieces to complete a level, earn a star, then spend that star on a renovation task: fix the floor, hang new curtains, plant the garden. The story unfolds as the house comes back to life, Austin's parents, the family cat, small everyday moments. There are more than 11,000 levels here, so this is a game you keep coming back to, not one you finish in a weekend.

The main campaign plays offline, so you can renovate the mansion on a plane, in the metro or anywhere without Wi-Fi. That is where the MOD shines.

What the MOD can't give you is the online layer. Facebook sign-in, team events, live in-game events and cloud saves are tied to Playrix's servers, and they either won't work or aren't safe to rely on with a modified build. Your progress lives locally on the device instead of in the cloud. Two things follow from that:

• Don't delete or clear the game without backing up first, or the renovation you've done is gone for good.
• Don't count on carrying that save to a new phone through the usual cloud restore. It isn't there.

This is about setting expectations, not talking you out of anything. If offline renovation is what you're here for, none of it gets in your way.

Tips for beginners

A few things worth knowing before you sink into the mansion:

• Save your best combos for hard boards. A rocket next to a bomb clears a huge chunk of the field, hold that pairing for levels that actually fight back, not easy early ones.
• Don't waste boosters on simple levels. Early boards clear fine on their own; keep your paper planes and dynamite for the tough later stages.
• Renovate in the order the game suggests at first. Following Austin's tasks keeps the story flowing and unlocks new areas at a steady pace.
• Collect your daily rewards every day. They quietly stack up coins and boosters, the resources the MOD does not hand you.
• Read the board before your first swap. Matches near the bottom drop new pieces from the top and often set off free chain reactions.
