Racing tips: drift and upgrades

• Master the handbrake drift. Tap the brake going into a corner to kick the back out, then feather the throttle to hold the slide. Clean drifts keep your speed up better than braking hard.
• Upgrade grip before top speed. A faster car you cannot control loses time in corners, so put early upgrades into tyres and handling first.
• Learn the surface. Dirt sections need earlier, gentler steering, while tarmac lets you carry more speed. Adjust your line to the track.
• Use the camera that suits you. The chase cam gives a wider view of the corner ahead, while the bumper cam feels faster and more precise for time trials.
• Do not over-brake. Lift off the throttle early instead of stamping the brake, so you keep momentum through the exit.
