What is WavePay?

WavePay is the wallet app of Wave Money, one of the largest mobile money services in Myanmar. You register with your phone number, and Wave Money runs a network of agent shops across the country where you can put cash into your wallet or take it out. Balances are held in Myanmar kyat.

Accounts come in verification levels. A basic account works right after you sign up with your number, and a fully verified account raises your transaction and balance limits. The exact limits are set by Wave Money and depend on your level, so check them inside the app rather than trusting a fixed figure here.

In practice, people use WavePay the way they would use Paytm or PhonePe in India: to send money to family, pay a shop by QR code, settle a bill, or top up a phone without carrying cash.

The send-to-non-user flow is worth knowing. When you pay someone who has no WavePay account, the app generates a six-digit secret code and a transaction ID. Your recipient takes both to a Wave Money agent and collects the cash there. Nothing lands in a stranger's app, and the money stays claimable until it is picked up.

Security and your account

Because WavePay holds real money, download it only from an official source: Google Play, the App Store, or the editor-checked APK on this page. There is no such thing as a WavePay mod, hack or unlimited-balance version. Any file that claims to be one is built to steal your money or your login, so avoid it.

The app protects your account in a few ways:

• A four-digit PIN is required to confirm transactions.
• Wave Money uses a "One Wallet, One Device" rule, so your wallet is tied to a single phone.
• Money sent to non-users is released through a six-digit secret code.

Keep your PIN and any OTP to yourself. Wave Money staff and agents never need them, and no honest transfer asks you to read a code out to someone else.

Availability
