• Start as a Warrior. The Warrior is the most forgiving class for a first run, high health, simple melee, no resource to babysit. Mage is powerful but fragile and better once you know the map.
• Put your first points into survival. Health and the stats that keep you alive matter more than raw damage while you are learning enemy patterns.
• Carry a shield from the start. A shield blocks a real chunk of incoming damage in the early fights, and staying alive beats hitting harder.
• Don't wander far before level 5. Some areas and roads hold enemies far above your level. Stick near the first towns, finish the low-level quests, and level up before you push into the wilds.
• Save often, in your own slots. Manual saves are your safety net, use them before every locked door, trap corridor or hard conversation.
