The developer is 2K, Inc., with the app itself made by Cat Daddy Games, a Take-Two studio. The package name is com.catdaddy.mynba2k22. It is filed under sports on our catalog, but keep in mind it is a utility that talks to the main game, not a standalone basketball title you play on its own.

Important: NBA 2K22 servers are offline

This is the part most sites skip, so here it is plainly. 2K closed the NBA 2K22 online servers on December 31, 2023, and the game was pulled from sale on January 1, 2024. Because the companion app depends on those servers for anything that syncs, its main jobs no longer go through. Face scans can't be sent into your game, your live VC balance won't load, locker codes won't apply, and the news feed has nothing left to pull.

So today the app is mostly of archive interest. If a page promises working VC sync or fresh locker codes for NBA 2K22 in 2026, it is out of date. There is no server on the other end to answer.

What still works offline

Not everything is dead. The app installs and opens fine, and you can walk through the interface, including the local face-scan screen, to see how it captured your face. That capture stays on your phone, though. Without the servers it can't be imported into MyCAREER on your console. Think of it as a look at how the tool used to work, rather than a live link to a game account.

Face scan and MyPLAYER (how it worked)

When the service was live, the flow was simple. You opened the scanner, slowly turned your head while the camera mapped your features, and the app stitched together a model of your face. That model then transferred to your MyPLAYER, so your created baller in MyCAREER actually looked like you across Xbox, PlayStation, Steam and Switch. It was one of the cleaner mobile-to-console features 2K shipped, which is a big reason the app is still remembered.

How to download and install
