The story is simple and dark: Arashi escapes an icy prison built by the demon Dosu, then sets out to rescue his kidnapped son. Along the way you cut through traps, jump gaps and fight bosses across a hand-drawn shadow world.

The campaign runs 4 acts and around 80 stages. You get four kinds of strikes plus blades and shurikens for ranged kills, and a skill tree you level up as you go. It is a tough game by design, expect to die, learn the pattern, and try again. That loop is the whole point.

• Save your healing items for boss fights. The regular stages are survivable on skill alone, bosses are not.
• Put early upgrades into your dash and shurikens. Mobility and ranged damage carry you through the nastier trap rooms.
• Learn the trap patterns before you rush. Most spikes, saws and darts fire on a fixed timer you can read.
• Use walls and shadows to slip past enemies instead of fighting every one. Stealth kills cost you no health.
