You control Sonic across three lanes, swiping to jump, roll and switch tracks while the level speeds up around you. It is more than a straight sprint. You dodge spikes, spring off bumpers, grab rings and take on bosses, Dr. Eggman and the Zeti hunter Zazz both show up to block the track. SEGA runs regular events and seasonal characters on top of the base game, so alongside Sonic you can unlock Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Amy and others as they cycle through. • Upgrade Head Start and Dash Boost first, Head Start skips the slow opening stretch, Dash Boost turns your speed bursts into free distance.
• Bank a Head Start before a run you care about, so you begin already moving fast instead of building up from zero.
• On bosses, watch the pattern before you react. Eggman and Zazz telegraph their attacks, swipe to the safe lane on the tell, not on reflex.
• Save a revive for the far distances. The multiplier is highest late in a run, so one revive past the 3,000-metre mark is worth more than three early ones.
• Chain springs and rails instead of grabbing single rings, the string bonus adds up faster than picking up rings one by one.
