What is The Amazing Spider-Man 2?

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is an open-world action game by Gameloft, released in 2014 as the sequel to the first Amazing Spider-Man movie tie-in. You web-swing freely across six districts of New York, take on story missions from the film and clear side crimes between them. Combat is close-up, hand-to-hand combo brawling, and you upgrade your suit and abilities by crafting between fights.

The villain roster is the reason people still hunt this game down: Venom, Green Goblin, Electro and Kraven all show up across the campaign. There is a suit system too. You unlock and switch between different Spider-Man costumes, Iron Spider among them, each changing how Spidey plays. It is a full console-style Spider-Man on a phone, which is rare.

Why it is not on Google Play

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was a paid, licensed game, and it is no longer sold in stores. The Marvel and Sony movie license behind it lapsed, so Gameloft pulled it from Google Play and the App Store. If you tap the old store button, it just drops you into a store search that finds nothing.

What that means for you is simple. There will be no more updates, version 1.2.8d is the final release, and it stays that way. The online events the game once had (Mysterio’s Arena and similar) ran on Gameloft servers that are now shut down, so treat the game as offline only. 2. If the download arrives as a single archive, open it with a file manager such as ZArchiver and extract the APK and the OBB folder.
3. Move the OBB into the Android/obb/com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftASHM folder. Create that folder if it does not exist, the path must match exactly.
