There are 50+ vehicles and tools from 30+ real agricultural brands, with licensed machinery from names like New Holland, Case IH and Deutz-Fahr, so every tractor, harvester and trailer is modelled on a real machine rather than a made-up one.

The vehicles cover the categories a real farm uses: tractors to pull equipment, combine harvesters with matching headers for grain, trailers and tippers for moving crops, and the ploughs, cultivators, seeders and sprayers you attach to work the fields. You do not simply buy a farm and watch it run. You sit in the cab and do the job, which makes it feel less like a menu game and more like operating equipment.

On the land you grow six crops: wheat, canola, corn, sugar beet, potatoes and sunflowers. Each has its own rhythm. Grains like wheat and canola cultivate, sow and harvest quickly; root crops such as sugar beet and potatoes take longer and need dedicated harvesters. Beyond the fields you keep livestock (cows, sheep and pigs) that need feeding, and you can run forestry, cutting and processing timber for extra income when the fields are quiet.

Everything you grow or raise is sold into a market where prices move up and down over time rather than staying fixed, so deciding when to sell a load is part of the game, not just what to grow. It is a slow, satisfying management game rather than an action title, and the fun is building the farm up over time and reinvesting into bigger machines and more land.

Tips for beginners

• Start with wheat or canola. These grains run through the cultivate-sow-harvest loop quickly, so you learn how the whole farming cycle works before committing to slow crops like sugar beet or potatoes that need special harvesters and a lot more patience.
• Watch the market prices before you sell. Prices move up and down, so the same load of grain can be worth a lot more a day or two later. Store what you harvest and sell at a peak instead of dumping it the moment the silo fills; timing the sale is one of the easiest ways to grow your balance early on.
• Hire a worker to run a machine while you handle another job. Set an AI helper to plough or harvest a field while you drive the trailer to the seller, which roughly doubles what you get done in a game that is all about using your time well.
• Don't blow your first budget on a top-tier combine. A mid-size harvester clears the smaller starter fields fine and leaves you cash for a second tractor or a better trailer; a balanced fleet beats one expensive machine sitting idle.
• Match your header and trailers to the crop. A grain header won't harvest sugar beet or potatoes, and a small trailer means constant trips back to the silo, so buy equipment that fits what you plant.
• Try forestry for a steady side income once your fields are running. Cutting, processing and selling timber pays well and keeps money coming in during the gaps when your crops are still growing.

MOD vs original

Farming Simulator 18 is an offline single-player game, so there is no online mode and nothing to get banned from, the MOD is safe to play in that sense. The one real trade-off: progress made here does not sync with a Google Play account.
