Why every "Procreate Pocket APK" is fake

Search for a Procreate Pocket APK and you'll find plenty of download pages. Look closer, though, and the package names never line up. One site lists com.procreate.pocketapp.paint, another com.sketching.procreate.paint, a third something else again.

That matters. A real app keeps one package name across every mirror. When each site shows a different one, you are looking at different apps — clones that borrow the Procreate name to catch searches. These reskins tend to come with ads, paid subscriptions under a brand that was a one-time buy, quiet data collection, and sometimes malware. Any of these installs cleanly from Google Play, so you skip sideloading a mystery APK altogether. Sketchbook and Krita are a fair place to start if you want zero cost.

If you have an iPhone or iPad

On Apple hardware the real thing is easy to get. Open the App Store, search Procreate Pocket for iPhone or Procreate for iPad, and check that the developer reads Savage Interactive before you buy. It is a one-time purchase, so you should never be asked for a subscription. That App Store listing is the only official source. If a listing shows a different studio, or asks for a monthly fee, it isn't the genuine app.

How to spot a fake art app

• The package name doesn't match across sites, or reads like com.something.procreate.paint.
• It is tagged "MOD" or "Unlocked" — a one-time-purchase app has nothing to unlock.
• Reviews complain about ads and pop-ups the real Procreate never shows.
• The file size or app icon doesn't match Savage's real listing.
• The publisher is not Savage Interactive.

When two or more of these line up, close the tab and walk away.
