Angry Birds Rio MOD APK is the 2011 Rovio classic tied to the animated film Rio, and this page keeps it playable with unlimited items from the very first level. There is a reason you can no longer find it in the Play Store: Rovio removed the game once its licence for the Rio film ran out. Version 2.6.13 is the last one ever made, and today it lives on only as an APK.

What is Angry Birds Rio?

Angry Birds Rio is a physics puzzle game by Rovio that crosses the Angry Birds cast with the animated film Rio. It opens with the birds captured by smugglers and shipped to Rio de Janeiro, where they meet Blu and Jewel, the two blue macaws from the movie. From there you slingshot your way through cages, jungles and carnival streets to break everyone out.

For a game of its age, there is a lot to play: 12 episodes, more than 400 levels and another 72 bonus levels to track down. Boss fights against Nigel the cockatoo and Mauro the marmoset break up the stages, and the series' Mighty Eagle is on hand when a level has you stuck.

Why it's gone from Google Play

Rovio removed Angry Birds Rio from Google Play after its licence for the film Rio expired. The whole game is built on the movie, its birds, its villains, its setting, so once the rights ran out, Rovio pulled it from the stores along with several other older titles. Search for it in the Play Store today and you'll find nothing.

Two things follow from that. First, there will be no more updates: version 2.6.13 is the final release, and it stays that way. Second, the only way to get the game now is to install the APK from a source you trust, which is exactly why this page exists. The 2011 build still runs on most modern Android phones, it ran on the ones our editors tested, but we can't promise it on every future version of Android. Treat it as a classic that works today, not a guarantee for years to come.

What the MOD gives you

The MOD version gives you unlimited items, the power-ups you normally have to earn or buy, such as the Sling Scope and Power Potion, so you can clear a stubborn level without grinding for them. Everything runs offline, and that matters here: there are no coins tied to a server and no online mode, so there is nothing that can ban your account. The MOD just keeps the boosters topped up while you play.

How to download and install Angry Birds Rio MOD APK
