What is Extra Lives?

Extra Lives drops you into a city after the zombie apocalypse and lets you live in it your way. It is an open sandbox survival sim: 50+ locations to explore, 200+ NPCs split across 8 factions, each with its own ideology and grudges. You can side with them, fight them, or set the whole map against itself.

Almost everything is editable. You customise your own character and the world around you, and you can even set how many zombies spawn, turn the outbreak into a light nuisance or a full siege. Survival runs on three meters: food, sleep and health. Let any of them slide and you are in trouble.

Combat uses the same wrestling engine MDickie is known for. You grapple, throw and slam, and just about any object on the map can become a weapon, grab a chair, a pipe or a body and swing. It is messy, physics-driven and deliberately chaotic, and that is the point.

What sets it apart from other survival games is how much you shape. The 8 factions are not just enemies; each has its own idea of how the city should be run, and how you deal with one changes how the others treat you. You can rewrite characters, adjust the world and dial the zombie count, so no two survival runs feel the same. It is a small game with a lot of moving parts, and the freedom is the reason people keep coming back to MDickie's sandboxes.

In the original, one "pro" in-app purchase opens the full editor and strips the ads. This MOD ships that already applied, checked by our editors against the actual file.

To keep expectations honest: this is not god mode and there are no unlimited stats or money. Health, hunger, sleep and death all work as in the original, the MOD opens the paid content, the survival stays. Controls and survival tips

MDickie games have a learning curve, and Extra Lives is no exception. The control scheme is a handful of buttons that do a lot: directional movement, attack, a grapple/throw button, a block, and a two-handed grab so you can pick up an object or a person with each hand. Nothing pauses while you figure it out, so a few pointers help.

• Sleep to heal. Rest restores health and energy, find a safe spot before you crash, not after.
• Watch the Health Meter. It is your real timer. Eat when hunger climbs and do not walk into a fight already hurt.
• Don't fight every faction at once. With 8 factions on the map, picking enemies carefully keeps you alive longer than swinging at everyone.
• If you get bitten, act fast. A bite can turn you, treat it as an emergency, not background damage.
• Use the world as a weapon. Chairs, pipes, doors, bodies, the grab-and-throw engine means the environment is your arsenal.
