What is N.O.V.A. Legacy?

N.O.V.A. Legacy by Gameloft is a compact sci-fi first-person shooter, a slimmed-down remake of the original N.O.V.A. You play Kal Wardin, a veteran marine pulled back into a war against the Volterite forces, guided by an AI named Yelena. The campaign runs through a set of chapters with a mix of firefights, set pieces and boss battles, and you pick up an arsenal that includes a shotgun, plasma weapons and laser guns. On top of the story there is online play: Deathmatch and special events where you face other players. It is short and sharp, which is why it still gets played years after release.

What the MOD gives you in the campaign

These apply to your local campaign save, so they hold up offline. In the online modes, modified values are a different story: Gameloft validates that side, so the mod's numbers are not safe there. The exact package for the current build is shown in the «MOD info» line at the top of this page.

Online versus offline and the ban risk

The split is simple. The offline campaign is yours, applied on your device, with no server checking your money, so there is no ban risk there. The online Deathmatch and co-op run through Gameloft, and a modded client can be detected, which means a possible ban. Several mod sites even tell you to turn the internet off before installing and entering the game, and that advice is sound. Keep the mod for solo play, run it offline, and do not sign into the online modes with it if you value the account.

How to download and install

1. Tap the green Download APK button at the top of this page. The file downloads directly, with no registration or SMS. It is about 95 MB.
2. If the Google Play version is installed, remove it first. The MOD has a different signature and will not install over it.
3. Allow installation from unknown sources for your browser (Settings, then Security).

Tips for the campaign

• Lead with the plasma weapons on tougher chapters. With money maxed you can upgrade them straight away, and the extra punch shortens the boss fights.
• Keep moving in boss battles. Most bosses telegraph a heavy attack, so circle-strafe and fire in the gaps rather than standing still.
• Aim for weak points. Many enemies and bosses have a glowing spot that takes extra damage, which saves ammo on the bigger fights.
• Use cover between waves. The campaign throws groups at you, so drop behind an object to reload and let your shields recover.
• Try the online modes clean. If you want Deathmatch, play it without the mod on a normal install, so your account stays clear.

MOD or original?
