What was Apex Legends Mobile?

Why it shut down

EA wound the game down in two steps:

• January 31, 2023 — all real-money purchases were switched off.
• May 1, 2023 — the servers went offline and the game was removed from both stores.

The reasons EA gave came down to money and health: the mobile version was not profitable enough, updates had been unstable, player retention was weak, and it had no cross-play or cross-progression with the main Apex. For an online-only game, once the servers are not worth running, there is no version left to play.

Can you still download or play the APK?

You will still find APK files of the last release, version 1.3.672.556, floating around the web. Here is the catch: that is just the client, and the client has no servers to talk to. It will not connect, a match will not start, and your EA account will not log in to the mobile service. The «unlimited money», «unlocked» and «full game» mods you see in search results are marketing for a product that no longer runs. There is nothing to gain by downloading them, and sideloading random files still carries real risk for your device. We would rather tell you that plainly than send you after a dead client.

Will Apex Legends Mobile come back?

EA has mentioned the idea of a reimagined, more connected Apex mobile experience at some point in the future. As of mid-2026 there are no official dates, no beta, and no confirmation that it will happen.
