What is The Game of Life?

The Game of Life is Marmalade Game Studio's digital take on the classic board game: spin the wheel, move along the path of life through school, careers, marriage, kids and taxes, and finish with more money than everyone else at the table. Up to four players can join a single match.

On top of the board, the app adds a Fast Mode for shorter games, mini-games between turns, and character customization for your token. It keeps the family-friendly feel of the tabletop version while cutting out the setup and the lost cards.

Is it free? Paid game explained

In Google Play, The Game of Life is a paid game: a one-time purchase, not a free download. The version on this page is unlocked for free testing, so you can try the full board, every mode and the shop before deciding whether to buy it. If you end up playing it regularly, buying the original on Google Play supports Marmalade Game Studio directly.

Online and offline modes

Offline, you can play against the computer, pass the phone around the table in pass-and-play, or connect over a local network. None of that needs an internet connection. Online multiplayer is a separate, server-based mode: it matches you with friends or random opponents and adds in-game chat, and it needs a working connection to log in. On an unlocked copy like this one, online matchmaking can be less reliable than it is on a purchased account, so use offline modes if you hit sign-in trouble.

What the MOD gives

Note that «unlimited money» does not apply here. The money you see on the board is a score for that match, not a currency you buy or bank between games, so there is nothing to make unlimited. What this build unlocks is the paid game itself. There is also no ban risk, since no progress server checks a paid unlock.

How to download and install

1. Tap the green Download APK button at the top of this page. Expect around 68 MB for the APK, and up to 262 MB once the OBB data file is in place.
2. Allow installation from unknown sources for your browser in Android settings, and remove any existing Google Play copy first if install stops on a signature mismatch.
3. Place the OBB file in Android/obb/com.marmalade.golmobile before you open the app, so the extra content loads correctly.
4. Open the app and start a match. Offline modes work straight away, with no login needed.

Not to be confused with The Game of Life 2

This page covers the 2016 edition of The Game of Life, package com.marmalade.golmobile. Game of Life 2 is a separate, newer game from the same studio with its own package (com.marmalade.gol2) and its own version numbers starting at 1.0.x. The two are not interchangeable, and this build applies only to the 2016 edition.
