• For a soft landing, come in slow and low, keep the nose slightly up, and cut thrust just before the wheels touch. Slamming the runway costs you rating points.
• Watch your waypoints. Drifting off the route or missing an altitude call marks the flight down, so follow the magenta line and hit each level.
• On a long flight you can dump fuel before landing to drop weight, which makes a heavy jet easier to set down cleanly.
• Handle emergencies calmly. An engine fire or hydraulic warning has a set procedure, so read the prompt, act, and keep flying the plane first.
