The game is now part of Netflix Games. To play the official version you need an active Netflix subscription, and you install it through the Netflix-linked build. The old Gameloft standalone was delisted, so the Google Play link now just leads to a search. One upside of the Netflix edition: there are no in-app purchases and no ad breaks, since everything is covered by the subscription.

Does the money mod work?

No, and here is the honest reason. The Netflix version has no coin or cash economy to hack, because content is unlocked through the subscription rather than bought. So skip the "unlimited money" label. The most you can realistically get on the legacy build is unlocked cars and seasons and no ads.

Offline and online

The career and season events run offline, so you can play on a plane or with no signal. Online is a different story: the 8-player mode needs a connection and checks your profile, so any modified build there is risky and pointless. You can get kicked or flagged. If you want to race with a mod, keep it to the single-player career.
