Supported tunnel types and transports

DarkTunnel is flexible, and that is its main selling point. It speaks a long list of tunnel protocols and can carry them over different transports, so you can match the exact gap your network leaves open.

The one worth knowing is DNSTT, or SlowDNS. It tunnels your traffic inside plain DNS queries, which means it can get through on networks where only DNS is allowed and everything else is dead. It is slower than a normal connection, that is the trade for reaching through a wall that blocks the rest. The other protocols, VMess, VLess, Trojan and Shadowsocks, are the usual V2Ray family and are handy when port 443 is open but filtered.

What you need before you start (honest)

Here is the part most download pages skip. DarkTunnel does not give you any servers. The app is just the client. To connect, you need your own config: an SSH host and account, a payload, or a DNSTT key, usually from a tunnel provider or a community that shares them. Without one, the app installs and just sits there, because it has nowhere to connect.

So treat this as a tool for people who already know what a config file is, or are willing to learn. Want something that just turns on? This is not it. But once you have a valid config, it is one of the more capable clients out there for tough networks.

How to download and install DarkTunnel APK

The download is a single small APK. This is an Android-only app, there is no Windows or iOS build, so ignore any guide that tells you to sign in as an administrator.

1. Tap the green Download APK button at the top of this page. The file comes down directly, no registration, no SMS.
2. Allow installation from unknown sources for your browser or file manager (Settings → Security or Apps).
3. Open the downloaded file and tap Install. It is about 18 MB and needs Android 7.0 or newer.
4. Launch DarkTunnel and import or paste your config: SSH details, payload, or a DNSTT key from your provider.
5. Pick your tunnel type (SSH, DNSTT/SlowDNS or a V2Ray protocol) and the inject mode that matches your network.
6. Hit connect. If it fails, try a different transport or inject mode, some networks only pass one of them.

Privacy and responsible use

Used right, DarkTunnel helps you get around censorship and keep a connection private on a hostile network. But a tunnel is only as trustworthy as the server on the other end, so pick your config source with care: whoever runs it can see your traffic. We won't claim it makes you anonymous, no honest tool can.

You are responsible for following the law in your own country and for where your configs come from. It is meant for privacy and access, not anything illegal.

DarkTunnel vs a regular VPN

A regular VPN is one tap: open the app, connect to the provider's servers, done. DarkTunnel asks more. You supply the config and choose the protocol, and in return you get a client that can punch through blocks a normal VPN can't, like DNS-only networks where SlowDNS is the only thing that moves.
