Douyin APK is the Chinese version of TikTok, made by ByteDance, the same company behind TikTok itself. This is the original, free app, not a mod and not a hacked build. Our editors downloaded the file, scanned it for malware and installed it on a real Android device before publishing, the check we have run since 2018. One thing to get straight up front: Douyin is not TikTok International. Different app, different content, different account.

What is Douyin?

Douyin was launched by ByteDance (Beijing Douyin Technology Co., Ltd.) back in 2016, in mainland China. It came first. TikTok was built later as the international version for the rest of the world. At its core Douyin is a short-video app: you scroll a feed picked by the algorithm, record clips, add music and effects, and follow the creators you like.

There is more to it than videos, though. Douyin has live streams and a large e-commerce side, so you can buy products right inside a clip without leaving the app. The whole ecosystem, the trends, the music, the shops, is built for a Chinese audience and runs separately from TikTok.

They look alike and share a parent company, but they are two different apps.

Accounts do not carry over between them. A TikTok login won't work on Douyin, and the content pools are separate. If you want the app most of the world uses, that's TikTok. Douyin is the mainland-China version, aimed at a different crowd.

Regional access and limitations

Here is the honest part. Douyin is built for users inside China, and it works best with a Chinese region and phone number. Outside the mainland you can still install it and open it, but some features and content are limited, and a few steps may ask for a Chinese number to verify. The interface is mostly in Chinese, so expect to lean on a screen translator at first.

The app is not on Google Play outside China. That makes a direct APK the normal way to get it onto your phone, which is exactly what this page is for.

Is there a Douyin MOD APK?

Short answer: no, and you don't want one. Douyin is free. There is no premium tier to unlock, no paid subscription, no in-app currency a "mod" could hand you, so a modified build gives you nothing real. What it can give you is trouble. Third-party APKs like that often carry malware, harvest your data, or get your account blocked. For a free app, the plain original file is the only version that makes any sense. Install that.

How to download and install Douyin APK
