What was Metal Slug Attack?

Metal Slug Attack was an online tower-defense strategy game by SNK, set in the Metal Slug universe. It launched in 2016 and ran for six years. The art kept the series' retro pixel look: you collected units and squads from across the games, placed them on a lane, and pushed toward the enemy base while they pushed back.

Around that core sat the parts that made it an online game. There was PvP against other players, guilds to join, and a gacha system for pulling and upgrading units. All of it leaned on a live connection. The card on this page lists "Network connection required" for a reason: without the servers, the game has no account and no content to load.

Why the MOD money is meaningless now

The card for this page has carried a Money badge in the past. Here is the straight version of why that no longer means anything.

Even while the game was live, the money was server-side, so a local MOD gave no real online advantage and risked a ban, since the server verified every balance.
