Tun2TAP is a free Android utility that turns your own SOCKS5 or HTTP proxy into a system-wide VPN tunnel. It is not a VPN service and ships no servers of its own: it takes a proxy you already have and routes every app on the phone through it. What is Tun2TAP?

Tun2TAP is made by New Tools Works, and it does one job well. It opens a local VPN interface on Android, then forwards all outgoing traffic into the proxy you point it at. You need your own proxy

This is the part most listings get wrong, so we will be blunt. Tun2TAP does not give you any servers. Without a working SOCKS5 or HTTP proxy to enter, the app has nothing to route and will not do a single useful thing.

Privacy works the same way. Encryption and logging depend entirely on the proxy you connect to. Tun2TAP is the router, not the guard: it moves packets to the address you set and makes no promises about what happens after that. So treat the proxy as the thing you trust, and choose it as carefully as you would any part of your connection.

Is there a MOD version?

No, and there is nothing a MOD could add. Tun2TAP is free, with no paid tier and no locked features, so there is no premium to open up and no reason to modify anything. Any page offering a MOD or premium build is just noise wrapped around a free tool.

Install the plain APK from this page, or the same app from Google Play, and you have the complete thing. There is no better version hiding behind a modified file.

How to download and install Tun2TAP

1. Tap the Download APK button at the top of this page, or get the same app from Google Play. The file is about 12 MB and needs Android 4.4 or newer.
2. Allow installation from unknown sources for your browser or file manager (Settings then Security).
3. Open the downloaded file and tap Install. It installs like any normal Android app, and no root is needed.
4. Open Tun2TAP, then enter the address and port of your SOCKS5 or HTTP proxy, pick the matching proxy type, and add a username and password if your proxy needs them.
5. Turn the tunnel on and approve the Android VPN request. From that point every app runs through your proxy.
